Started of Direct Seeding:

  • After receiving technical information from Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kapurthala, it is intended to do direct sowing of paddy by tar watar method for the first time in 2022.
  • Direct sowing of PR 121 variety of paddy and yielded about 29 quintals per acre.


Advantages of Direct Seeding Method:

  • According to Harwinder Singh, sowing with tar watar method is more successful, which saves water and makes weed control easier.
  • In 2023 direct sowing of paddy was done again with tar wattar method, which gave an average yield of 30 quintals per acre.

    • In 2024, a team of experts from Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kapurthala installed a cup of direct sowing of paddy in village Dham.
    • Apprehensions of farmers towards direct sowing were removed.

    • In 2024, Harvinder Singh directly sowed paddy in 5 acres.
    • Use of Stomp/Bunker 30 EC (pendimethalin) is recommended for success in direct seeding.
