Under the guidance of Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Vice Chancellor of Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University, Jhansi and Dr. SS Singh, Director Extension Education, farmers in Block Baragaon, Village Ronija were motivated to adopt agroforestry system.
Agroforestry scientist Dr. Prabhat Tiwari selected 12 farmers for the first phase. Important trees of industrial agroforestry like Milia and Kadamba have been planted on the land of these farmers. These trees are ready in 3 to 6 years and their wood can provide raw material for industries like plywood, which can increase the income of farmers.
Advanced agroforestry trees are being made available to the farmers and machines have also been provided to make pits for the trees. Soil health is being checked through scientific method so that agroforestry can be promoted. In this campaign, the team of Dr. M Panda, Dr. Pawan Kumar, Dr. Anusuya and Dr. Garima Gupta has been continuously supporting.
