There has been an increase in procurement of crops through Farmgate on e-NAM platform in previous financial year.
It is in major use in 11 states, including Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir.
Farm-Gate Trade and Business:
- Farm gate trade volume through e-NAM is Rs 57,633 crore in April-December (2023-24).
- This is providing convenience to the farmers in selling their produce, due to which they are earning bumper income.
Advancement of business on e-NAM:
- Inter-mandi trading on e-NAM has increased by 161 percent during April-December, 2023, taking the total trade value to Rs 74 crore.
Number of states and permissions:
- The e-NAM platform currently allows online trading in 209 agriculture, horticulture and other commodities.
- 1,361 mandis from 27 states and union territories are linked to the platform, with approximately 17.68 million farmers and other members registered.
Note:
- Through e-NAM, buyers are providing more income to farmers by reducing costs.
- Inter-mandi trade is increasing and online trade is being allowed, thereby supporting digitalization in agricultural trade.
