Important information about soil testing

Importance of availability of nutrients in soil: Availability of appropriate nutrients is important for the proper growth and development of trees and plants in the field.

Chemical Testing: Chemical testing is required to check the pH, conductivity, nitrogen, phosphorus, potash, calcium, magnesium and sulfur in the soil.

Importance of micronutrients: The quantity and availability of micronutrients such as boron, copper, iron, manganese, and molybdenum that are present in the soil are important.

Correct method of sampling

It is also very important to know the correct method for taking the sample.

Field Preparation: Before sampling, the crop in the field should have uniform growth and uniform fertilizer should be used in it.

Selection of location: The ground should be flat and uniform. If necessary, samples can be taken from between the rows of standing crops and sent for testing.

Sample Preparation: To prepare the sample properly, soil sample is taken by digging a deep pit.

Sending the sample: The sample should be sent to the concerned laboratory so that appropriate analysis can be done.

Method of sample collection

Selection of field: Select the field in which the sample is to be taken and keep in mind that the area should not exceed 4 acres, if the area is larger then prepare 2 samples.

Sample Preparation: After digging 15 to 20 cm deep pits at selected locations, prepare soil sample and send it to the concerned laboratory.

Materials for sample collection: Dib, plastic bags, information leaflet cards etc. are required.
