Water scarcity is a serious problem in most areas of the country, especially when it does not rain. This affects agriculture and crops. To solve this problem, various irrigation schemes are being run by the governments.

Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana: Subsidy for solar pumps

The objective of Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana, which provides subsidy on solar pumps to farmers, is to help farmers supply their agricultural water through solar energy. With this, farmers get the opportunity to earn along with subsidy.

Subsidy and its uses

State governments provide subsidy of 30-30 percent, due to which farmers get 60 percent subsidy for installation of solar pumps. In some states this subsidy reaches up to 90 percent. This reduces the electricity and diesel costs of farmers, which reduces their farming costs.

Additional earning opportunities with irrigation

Solar pumps can be used for irrigation as well as electricity generation. This scheme also benefits the farmers from power generation, which gives them more profits.

How to apply

Farmers can apply under this scheme. With the required documents they can apply by visiting the official website of their state government.
