Paddy is the main crop in Kharif season. Traditional paddy farming requires a lot of hard work and water. It also costs more. In direct sowing of paddy, plants are planted directly in the field without preparing a nursery. Farmers sow seeds directly with a seed drill machine. This saves money, time and hard work.
Wet method:
- Deep irrigation is done before sowing.
- Second irrigation is done after 2-3 days.
- The field is prepared and sowing is done with a drill.
- The seeds are lightly compacted and covered with soil.
- Moisture is preserved by sowing in the evening.
Dry method:
- The field is prepared well.
- After mechanical sowing, water is given for germination or rain is waited for.
- If proper germination is not achieved after one irrigation, then second irrigation is done after 4-5 days.
Advantages of direct sowing of paddy:
- Less use of water.
- Crop is ready on time.
- It is weed free.
- Less use of pesticides.
- Labor cost is less.
- No need to prepare nursery.
- Reduction in methane emission and global warming potential.
- Soil is not damaged.
