The Agriculture Department has issued suggestions for saving soybean crop for the farmers of Indore district keeping in mind the rainy season. Harvest soybean when 90% of the pods turn yellow so that the germination capacity of the seed is not adversely affected. Timely harvesting can prevent damage caused by cracking or sprouting of the pods. Thresh the harvested crop after drying it in the sun, and keep it in a safe place to protect it from rain. For use as seed, thresh the crop at 350-400 rpm. The storage house should be cool, airy and moisture-free, and use wooden platforms. Do not make piles of sacks more than 3-4 sacks high or 5 feet high. Do not throw the sacks from a height during storage, and keep them a little away from the wall so that the seeds do not get spoiled due to moisture.
