In Punjab, a deadly disease called khurapka-muhampaka (FMD) has struck the cattle, which is reducing milk production and may even lead to death. Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University organized a program, in which information on FMD disease prevention and remedies was given. Many tips and remedies have been given to the livestock keepers to prevent the disease. FMD disease expert talks about important aspects of vaccination, inward ring vaccination in disease centers, and biosecurity. Quality of FMD vaccines and regular seromonitoring are needed to prevent the spread of the disease. Dr. Yashpal Singh Malik has talked about promoting inward ring vaccination in the centers of the disease, so that the spread of the disease can be reduced. FMD disease is also affecting meat, dairy products and milk exports and is slowly being controlled.
