Farmers can sow ladyfinger at the beginning of Rabi season, especially in October. Farmers can earn more profit at low cost by sowing improved varieties of ladyfinger. About 15-20 tonnes of cow dung manure per hectare and spraying of nitrogen, potash is necessary. 4 major improved varieties of ladyfinger: Pusa A-4, Arka Anamika, Hisar Unnat, and VRO-6 (Kashi Pragati). Pusa A-4 variety gives more than 15 tonnes per hectare yield and is resistant to yellow vein Arka Anamika variety gives 12-15 tonnes per hectare yield with soft ladyfinger and is able to fight yellow disease. Hisar Unnat variety gives yield in high temperature and produces 13 tonnes per hectare. VRO-6 variety (Kashi Pragati) gives yield of 18 tonnes per hectare in warm temperatures and resists yellow vein mosaic virus.
