ICAR has launched 5 new varieties of cotton for farmers. These varieties are adapted according to different states and climatic zones. Cotton varieties like 'CICR-H Bt Kapas 65' and 'CICR- H Bt Kapas 40' are suitable for Central and South zones. 'Shalini (CNH 17395)' is recommended for Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. 'CNH-18529' and 'PDKV Dhawal' are adapted for states like Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat. A new variety of white jute 'JRC 9' was also launched, which is suitable for states like West Bengal, Odisha and Bihar. These varieties will be beneficial for farmers with advanced technology and disease resistant characteristics. These new varieties of cotton and jute will give higher yield and better crop quality to farmers.
