Soft cotton is the main kharif crop of the districts of Mansa, Muktsar, Faridkot, Bathinda, Moga etc. in the south-western district of Punjab. Pest control in soft crops is becoming a challenge in the last decade. But if the prevention of white fly is done on time and according to IPM technique, then the damage caused by it can be reduced. In this regard, we are sharing some points with farmers to ensure crop safety. Use of nitrogenous fertilizers in excess of the recommended amount increases the attack of sap-sucking insects. To prevent the spread of whitefly, it is necessary to clean the area around the field. Whitefly infestation also occurs on vegetables like brinjal, cucumber, pumpkin, tarr, tomato etc. so it is necessary to monitor them. Apply one to two sprays of Nimbicidin or Achuk at one liter per acre for whitefly as these are safe for friendly pests. Spray for whitefly when counts exceed 6 per leaf in the upper part of the plant before 10 am. Use insecticides as per the table below to control whitefly.
