Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh inaugurated the workshop to empower States and Union Territories for preparation of 21st Livestock Census at Vigyan Bhawan. Union Ministers of State Prof. SP Singh Baghel and Shri George Kurien were also present at the workshop. The Union Minister launched the mobile application for 21st Livestock Data Collection. Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh said that the livestock sector is important for India's economy and food security. He emphasized on planning and implementing the livestock census effectively. The workshop aims to ensure a coordinated and efficient approach for the livestock census to be held in September-December 2024. Prof. SP Singh Baghel emphasized the need for training and capacity building at the grassroots level. Shri George Kurien emphasized on integration of existing practices in the livestock sector. Ms. Alka Upadhyay, Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying said that the success of 21st Livestock Census is the collective responsibility of all stakeholders. The workshop included sessions on methodology and guidelines for 21st Livestock Census, training on mobile application and dashboard software, and open discussion.
