The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Barasin, Sultanpur has discovered Napier grass, which will provide green fodder to cattle farmers throughout the year. Napier grass is rich in nutrients and once planted, can be harvested for four to five years. There are more than eight lakh milch animals in the district, for whom this grass will solve the problem of fodder. Napier grass is ready in one and a half months and contains important nutrients like calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus. This grass will also be used in government cow shelters, which will reduce the mortality rate of cattle. The Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Animal Husbandry Department will also implement this technology in other districts of UP. This grass will improve milk production and cattle farmers will be able to use it for four to five years.
