Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has approved the formulation of a new agricultural policy. The aim of the new policy is to strengthen the farming-based economy and ensure the welfare of farmers. The meeting noted the end of the days of traditional farming, which has increased the need for a new policy. The government is planning to conserve groundwater and make agriculture profitable. A new policy will be formulated after taking the opinion of all parties. The Punjab Cabinet approved proposals to increase VAT to increase revenue from Rs 2,400 crore to Rs 3,000 crore. It was decided to end subsidy for electricity consumers with load more than 7 kW. OTS III was extended for settlement of pending VAT cases for traders. The new education policy was approved, which will open new employment opportunities for the youth. The process of tax payment has been simplified for goods vehicle and auto rickshaw owners.
