Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann chaired a meeting on paddy procurement. The state government expects to start paddy procurement from October 1, 2024. Paddy has been cultivated in 32 lakh hectares in Punjab this year. The state government's paddy procurement target is 185 lakh tonnes. CCL of Rs 41,378 crore for Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2024-25 has been released by RBI. The minimum support price (MSP) of grade 'A' paddy has been fixed at Rs 2,320 per quintal. State procurement agencies such as Pungrain, Markfed, Punsup, PSWC and FCI will procure paddy. The state government has made extensive preparations for smooth and hassle-free procurement and lifting of paddy. Mechanisms have been developed to ensure prompt payment to farmers in bank accounts. The Chief Minister said that smooth and quick purchase of paddy will be done in the mandis. Every grain of the farmers' crop will be purchased and lifted. Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to ensure the purchase and quick lifting of paddy in the mandis.
