Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 17th installment of PM-Kisan Yojana during his visit to Varanasi. More than 9.26 crore farmers will get benefits of more than Rs 20,000 crore under this scheme. The Prime Minister also distributed certificates to more than 30,000 self-help groups as Krishi Sakhis. The program was organized by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in collaboration with the Government of Uttar Pradesh. PM-Kisan Yojana was launched in 2019, in which all landholding farmers are given financial assistance of Rs 6,000 annually. So far, an amount of more than Rs 3.04 lakh crore has been distributed to more than 11 crore farmers under this scheme. After the 17th installment, the total disbursement amount will exceed Rs 3.24 lakh crore. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that 2.5 crore farmers joined this event. 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras, over 1 lakh Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies, and 5 lakh Common Service Centres participated in the programme.
