New varieties of wheat:

Triticum aestivum Wheat-153 (TAW-153):
  • Suitable for the climate of Rajasthan.
  • Gives better yield even in high temperatures.
  • Resistant to fungal diseases like blast and powdery mildew.


Raj Vijay Wheat-155 (RW-155):

  • Developed for Madhya Pradesh.
  • High content of iron and zinc.
  • Better flour quality and resistance to fungal diseases.

Bauna Luchai:
  • Early maturing and lodging resistant variety.
  • 40% higher yield than traditional Luchai variety.


Sanjeevani:

  • Rich in more than 350 phytochemicals.
  • Meets the growing demand for healthier rice.
  • Developed in collaboration with IGKV Raipur.


Trombay Konkan Khara:

  • Suitable for saline coastal areas of Maharashtra.
  • Gives better results in harsh climate.


New Varieties of Oilseed Crops:

Trombay Mustard-2 (TM-2):
  • Suitable for Rajasthan.
  • 14% higher yield and resistant to fungal diseases.

    • Trombay Latur-10 (TL-10):

      • Developed for farmers of Maharashtra.
      • This variety of sesame can give 20% more yield.


      Chhattisgarh Trombay Groundnut (CGTG):

      • Suitable for Chhattisgarh.
      • Better results even in rain and summer.
      • It has high oil content up to 49%.
      • These varieties developed by BARC will not only help in increasing the crop yield but will also increase the income of farmers.
      • These varieties can be grown in different climatic conditions and will provide healthy products.

      Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) has developed 8 new crop varieties using nuclear radiation technology, which are related to wheat, paddy and oilseeds. The aim of these varieties is higher yield, disease resistance and adaptability to climate change. State agricultural universities have also cooperated in this initiative of BARC New varieties have been developed using nuclear radiation-based mutation breeding technology.
