  • Weeds in wheat crop like ‘Kanki’ (Phalaris minor) and ‘Gulli Danda’ are a big problem for farmers.
  • ICAR-Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research suggested effective weed management measures.

Multi-herbicide resistant weed management:

  • Spray pyroxasulfon 85 WG @ 60 g per acre 0-3 days after sowing.
  • Clodinafop metribuzin 12+42% WP @ 200 g per acre.

Broadleaf weed control:

  • 2,4-DE 500 ml, metsulfuron 20 WP 8 g, or carpetrazon 40 DF 20 g per acre.

Mixed weed management:

  • Sulfosulfuron 75 WG @ 13.5 g or mesosulfuron iodosulfuron @ 160 g per acre.

Narrow leaf weed management:

  • Clodinafop 15 WP @ 160 g or Pinoxaden 5 EC @ 400 ml per acre.

Early sown crop management:

  • Mixture of chlormequat chloride 50% SL and tebuconazole 25.9% EC.

Late sown crop:

  • Row-spacing 17.5 cm and 50 kg seed rate per acre.

High fertility crop:

  • Special spraying at first node stage (50-55 days).
    • Improvement in yield and quality is possible with these measures.
