The Madhya Pradesh government has changed the date of wheat procurement in view of the demand of the farmers. Earlier, it was decided to start procurement in Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal and Narmadapuram from March 1 and in other divisions from March 17. But now wheat will be procured simultaneously in the entire state from March 15.
In view of the problem of incomplete harvesting and excess moisture, the government has made this change so that farmers do not face any inconvenience.
The central government has fixed the support price of wheat at Rs 2425 per quintal, while the state government will give an additional bonus of Rs 175, due to which farmers will get a price of Rs 2600 per quintal.
There is a possibility of purchasing 80 lakh tonnes of wheat in the state, for which Rs 19,400 crore will be given to the farmers as support price and Rs 1,400 crore as bonus.
