In 2014, Makkhan Singh got information from Punjab Agricultural University and bought a Happy Seeder machine with the help of the Department of Agriculture. Using this, he got a yield of 22 quintals of wheat per acre. Inspired by his success, about 10 other farmers of the village also adopted the Happy Seeder technique.
According to Makkhan Singh, there should be moisture in the field during sowing with Happy Seeder and adding 50 kg of seeds and 60 kg of DAP fertilizer per acre gives a good crop. Explaining its benefits, he said that the problem of rivers and falling of crop is reduced, and the health of the land improves due to the stubble remaining in the field.
Last year, Makkhan Singh sowed wheat using surface seeder machine in 2.5 acres of land and got a yield of more than 25 quintals per acre. Impressed by this new technology, other farmers of the village are also approaching him to adopt surface seeder machine.
Thus, Makkhan Singh has become a source of inspiration for other farmers with his innovative efforts.
