If a farmer spends Rs 20 lakh in mushroom cultivation, he will be given a subsidy of up to Rs 10 lakh. The aim of this initiative is to increase the interest of farmers in farming and provide them financial assistance.
For mushroom cultivation, compost is prepared from wheat or rice straw, which takes one month. Mushroom seeds are sown by spreading it on a hard place. This cultivation is done in a shaded place, because the yield is less in the open.
Farmers can apply for the scheme by visiting the government website horticulture.bihar.gov.in. Application can be made by filling the registration form here. For additional information, farmers can also contact the District Agriculture or Horticulture Department.
