Deputy Director of Agriculture Department, Mr. KS Khapadia emphasized the importance of insect disease and weed control in soybean crop. Soybean production can be affected if control is not done on time. Narrow leaf and broad leaf weeds are mainly found in soybean crop. Major weeds include Sawa grass, Doob grass, Bokna, Bokni, Motha, Diwana, Chhoti Badi Duddi, Hazar Dana, Safed Murg etc. In the initial stage of the crop, the crop should be kept weed free for 45 to 60 days. In the condition of 15 to 20 days, Bel Chalit Dora or Kalpa should be run or weeding should be done. In case of continuous rain, chemicals can be sprayed for weed management. Use only recommended herbicides and use 500 liters of water per hectare. Use flat fan or flood jet nozzle for spraying and spray in moist or friable soil. Do not use the same herbicide repeatedly, adopt chemical rotation. Do not use more than one herbicide or their mixture unless recommended. In case of using herbicides before sowing or immediately after sowing, Bel Chalit Dora or Kalpa should be run after 20 to 25 days.
