The government has implemented the Nutrient Based Subsidy (NBS) policy from 1 April 2010. P&K fertilizers have been placed under Open General License (OGL), allowing companies to freely import them. A special packagehas been approved for 2024-25 to make DAP available to farmers at affordable prices. Fertilizer companies will be given an additional subsidy of ₹3500 per metric tonne on the sale of DAP from 1 April 2024 to 31 December 2024. This scheme will put a financial burden of about ₹2625 crore on the government. The scheme aims to strengthen agriculture and food security by making fertilizers available to farmers at low cost. The government constantly monitors the availability and prices of phosphatic and potassic fertilizers. The information was given by Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Smt.
