Farmers in Haryana's Karnal district are reaping environmental and economic benefits by converting stubble into useful things instead of burning it. Farmers use machines like straw baler, happy seeder, and paddy straw chopper to convert stubble into biofuel and animal feed. Farmers like Sunil Rana collect stubble and sell it to liquor companies at Rs 170 per quintal. Jatinder Kumar sells stubble to factories at Rs 180-190 per quintal. Somnath has taken a baler machine on subsidy and is employing 50 workers to dispose of The demand for biofuel is promoting stubble management. The government is giving subsidy to farmers for stubble management machinery, which is providing additional help to farmers.
