The Uttar Pradesh government is going to include peanuts grown in Jhansi and Bundelkhand in the "One District One Product" (ODOP) scheme. Till now the list of ODOP from Jhansi district included soft toys and terrycots, now adding peanuts will give good profits to the farmers. The World Bank has decided to develop Jhansi as a peanut cluster under the "UP Agri" scheme, which will give more profit to the farmers cultivating peanuts. The peanuts of Jhansi will be exported abroad, which will earn foreign exchange for India. Along with the peanut grain, its peel will also give profit, which can be used as fuel and can be purchased by foreign companies. The aim of the ODOP scheme is to get local products recognized at the national and international level, which will benefit farmers and traders.
