The National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL) will procure onions from private traders at Rs 29 per kg for export to Bangladesh. 1,650 tonnes of onions will be procured under this initiative. The move marks the resumption of onion exports from India after a ban on onion exports from December 8 to March 31. In March, the Indian government approved 64,400 tonnes of onion exports, with 50,000 tonnes allocated to Bangladesh and 14,400 tonnes to the UAE. The export ban on onions was imposed to control domestic prices after international prices rose in the affected regions during Ramzan.
