The power demand had reached 14,500 MW in May and it may cross 16,500 MW during paddy irrigation. The state government has announced to ensure eight hours of power supply to farmers. The state has been divided into four zones so that the sowing schedule can be implemented. Paddy sowing will start on June 10, 16, 19 and 21 in different parts of the state. According to PSPCL, this year the power demand may reach 16,500 MW, while last year it was 15,300 MW. Power generation has been increased after the acquisition of 540 MW Goindwal Sahib Thermal Plant.
