Farmers are facing difficulties in traditional farming due to climate change. Borlaug Institute for South Asia and Department of Agriculture gave farmers an opportunity to improve farming through new technologies. Sowing of wheat was started with Happy Seeder and Zero Tillage techniques in Palakhed and Chargaon Karbal of Chhindwara district. Farmer Shri Sanju Mate explained the benefits of reducing the cost of farming and conserving resources by adopting new technologies. Borlaug Institute made farmers aware of climate tolerant farming by training them. Climate friendly wheat varieties Hi 1636, Hi 1634, DBW-303, DBW-187, and GW-451 are being given to farmers. This initiative has raised new hopes among farmers to deal with climate change and increase production. Adoption of these technologies in other areas in future will help in increasing the income of farmers and protecting the environment.
