In the current Rabi season, wheat sowing area increased by 2.28% to 239.49 lakh hectares. Oilseeds sowing area decreased by 4.34% to 86.52 lakh hectares. Pulses sowing area increased marginally to 120.65 lakh hectares from 115.70 lakh hectares last year. Coarse cereals sowing remained stable at 35.77 lakh hectares, with jowar sown in 19.38 lakh hectares and maize in 10.07 lakh hectares. Oilseeds sowing area decreased to 86.52 lakh hectares from 90.45 lakh hectares last year. Rapeseed-mustard area decreased to 81.07 lakh hectares from 84.70 lakh hectares. The area under peanut cultivation decreased from 2.51 lakh hectares to 2.31 lakh hectares. The total area under cultivation under all Rabi crops so far in the current Rabi season of the year 2024-25 has increased by 1.5% to 493.62 lakh hectares.
