Prevention of potato crop pests: Easy tips

Aphids:

• This insect sucks the juice of the plant and makes the leaves yellow and weak.
• In case of severe attack, the leaves wither and start falling.

Prevention:

• Destroy the larvae of aphids in the empty spaces and on the ridges of the field.
• Use nitrogen fertilizer in balanced quantities.
• Mix 300 ml of Metasystox 25 EC in 80-100 liters of water and spray.
• Do not spray three weeks before harvesting the potatoes.

Cutworm:

• This insect damages the plants by biting them near the ground.
• After the potatoes are formed, it makes tunnels in the potatoes and eats the pulp.

Prevention:

Destroy the larvae in the empty spaces and on the ridges.

Leaf Miner:

This insect lays eggs on the surface of leaves and the larvae eat the green matter of the leaves.

The green part of the plants disappears and only the veins remain.

Prevention:

Cleanliness of fields and timely use of pesticides.
