With the harvesting of Kharif crops, preparations are on for sowing of Rabi crops, but the problem of stubble management is increasing in Punjab. 1694 farmers of Karnal district have applied under the government's subsidy scheme for in situ and ex situ machinery for stubble management. About 745 farmers have purchased the machine, and the remaining farmers are in the process of purchasing it. The state government will provide an incentive of Rs 1,000 per acre to farmers who do not burn stubble. Villages where incidents of stubble burning will be less will also be given incentives ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. The Agriculture Department has issued permits to 1,640 farmers to purchase machines for stubble management, and 914 farmers have uploaded bills on the portal.
